Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a graduate level admission exam accepted by most schools in the United States. The test is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The General GRE Test consists of four parts - Verbal Section, Quantitative Section, Analytical Writing Section and an Experimental Section. There is also a subject specific GRE Test for some subjects. General GRE test aims to measure the ability of verbal and quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking on the part of the students.

Started in 1936, it is one of the oldest standardized admission exams for graduate and business schools. GRE is the only such test where students can choose to answer questions in a random order by skipping hard questions and coming back to them later. ETS also provides the option to take multiple exams and send the score of your choice to your University. This option - trademarked as ScoreSelect - is unique and available with GRE only. The cost for taking the exam is $205.

GAMA Education Consultancy has been providing GRE preparation classes since 2008. We have helped hundreds of students score healthily in their GRE test and become eligible for top Universities in the United States.

The problem with most students about to attend their GRE examinations is that they focus most of their time on vocabulary. Acquiring a good GRE vocabulary is a great start but it is not everything. You must be able to do verbal reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking. On top of it, 170 marks is dedicated for quantitative reasoning - high school mathematics.

Ample amount of practice and frequent interaction with the teachers will help you acquire the analytical skills necessary to answer questions correctly. Your knowledge must be fine grained, as most answer options look equally correct. Our focus will exactly be on these things. Rigorous practice with sample test questions and regular mock tests will keep you on your heels. Our teachers will analyze your performance and dedicate the next sessions to focus on your weakness areas.

If you are looking for GRE Test Preparation, then look no further than GAMA Education Consultancy.

GRE is composed of three major sections - Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing - and a Experimental or a Research section. There are two parts each in the Verbal and Quantitative section. You will be allowed to take a minute of break between sections. Once you have started a section, you can choose to skip a question within that section and come back to it later if time permits. The test takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete.

The GRE Verbal Reasoning section is composed of two parts. Each part will have about 20 questions to be answered in 30 minutes. The marks for verbal section are distributed in the range of 130-170. This sections tests the ability of the students to comprehend things they read, do critical reasoning and use vocabulary.

It also tests if or not the students can draw conclusion from incomplete set of data, understand the intent of the author, understand relationship between words and sentences, understand context and grasp key points from a discussion.

The GRE Quantitative Reasoning section is composed of two parts. Typically, each section consists of 20 questions to be answered in 35 minutes. Marks for the Quantitative Reasoning section are distributed on a scale of 130 to 170. Each section consists about eight quantitative comparison items, three questions for data interpretation and nine items for problem solving.

This section tests your ability to understand quantitative information and then interpret and analyze it. You must be able to solve problems using mathematical concepts. Knowledge of high school level mathematics and reasoning skill is required for the test.

The GRE Analytical Writing section is composed of two tasks- Issue Task and Argument Task. 30 minutes is allotted for each task. You will obtain score on a range of 0-6.

You will write an essay from a given topic for the Issue Task. The topic that is given to you is selected from a pool of topics available publicly. For the Argument Task, you will be given an argument and you will have to write a critical essay on the argument. You will need to point out logical inconsistencies in the argument and suggest how it could be improved. This section will test your ability to gather idea, examine the point of view critically, provide reasoning and support your claims.

GRE experimental section contains questions that are considered by the administrators for future use. These questions do not count towards your score.

ETS will determine if or not to use the questions in the future based upon how these questions are answered. However, these experimental questions are not present separately and they are rolled into the verbal and quantitative section. You will not know if the question you are answering is a real question or an experimental one. The best practice is to not think of experimental questions during exam. In case there is a Research Section instead of an experimental one, it will be present separately at the end of the other three sections.

GRE Subject Test is an additional test that might be required for admission in specialty courses. GRE Subject Test is available for six subjects - Biology, Mathematics, Psychology, Chemistry, Literature in English and Physics.

This test might be necessary if you are applying for scholarships and admission at top American Universities. The total duration for the Subject Test is 170  minutes.
